Very many La Llarona-based movies have been made, and they're pretty much hit or miss. This one I think was a hit.  I discovered that it's actually based on a true story - there really was a genocidal general from Guatamala who was eventually tried, convicted, and then had that conviction overturned. I thought this movie was very well done, with a strong opening, some great camera shots, and a believably tense and spooky mood throughout the film. The only thing holding me back from giving it a higher rating is thatI didn't think it was particularly scary - it was a well done pseudo-documentary about some very difficult subjects, and I enjoyed it. Solid B
